The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is the world’s premier university source for market-oriented ideas – bridging the gap between academic ideas and real-world problems. The Mercatus Center advances knowledge about how markets work to improve people’s lives by providing training, conducting research and sharing information with its audience. With this video in particular, the client wanted to explain the results from a study they published on Medicare so politicians and advocates could use it to enact actual change.
Video has a unique ability to convey incredibly complex topics and spark discussion. We decided that animation would allow us to create extremely engaging visuals that the audience would understand. A sophisticated, clean 2D and dynamic text style allowed us to tell a visual story while a confident voiceover supported the animation.
We worked closely to develop a script that wouldn’t be weighed down by facts and figures. Our creative team developed a distinct style using the brand colors and strategic text call-outs. Careful voiceover casting ensured that the video would be witty and smart… without sounding over the top.
This video breaks through the noise with a unique style and voice. The Mercatus Center now uses this video as a tool on their website and Youtube Channel to not only engage people, but also direct visitors to download their scholarly Medicare paper.
