People think I get to draw pictures all day, and I pretty much do but it is with a purpose. My role as an art director is to give your project a look and feel that best suits your brand and message. Each project is unique and it is my job to approach each project with a visual understanding of the end product.

I use my skills as a graphic designer and filmmaker to come up with different ways to visually tell a story that fits the objective. My past experiences working at ad agencies has taught me many things about the creative process and how a subjective product can still be obtained objectively.

I am a very visual person and I enjoy throwing light on brands that can get lost in this crazy digital age. I do draw pictures all day but those pictures are the face of your next project.

My dad once said that I do not have an off switch. While this was disconcerting to my significant other, for me it articulated my passion for motion graphics and color grading.

I enjoy the minutia of this craft, whether that is how a particular color affects the mood or how a particular serif affects readability on low resolution screens. I mean, I was one of less than a handful to graduate from my video program with a B.S. instead of the obligatory B.A.. So, naturally, the small things matter to me.

I bring my stick-to-itiveness for problem solving, a deft design sense for the elegant and trite-less, mixing that together with the tireless pursuit of information and technology, progenerating the definition of awesome.

My Cinderella story begins the way most do; a former golf course greens keeper turns video editor. It’s true! I used to cut grass; now I cut video.

I discovered my passion for film as a young kid. It wasn’t until a few years ago, while I was enrolled at the New York Film Academy (in New York City), that I discovered my knack for editing film. There was something in the framework of piecing together all of your shots and sounds to form a unique and compelling story, that I found tremendously satisfying and rewarding.

After completing the program I immediately went looking to apply my latest experiences in a way would allow me to utilize my talent for video editing and love for telling stories.

I returned to the D.C area and before I knew it, I was mowing greens again. Don’t worry…it was only as a means to support myself while I found something else. I volunteered at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, filming and streaming their daily Millennium Stage performances. Not long after that I was introduced to 522 Productions where I currently work as a full-time editor and storyteller.

And if that’s not the greatest story you’ve ever heard, wait ‘til you hear what happens next…

Blaise Pascal once said, “The least movement is of importance to all nature. The entire ocean is affected by a pebble.” In the same way, a video has the ability to affect mass amounts of viewers.

I first became infatuated with time-based media in college after focusing on print design for years. Although the work that was being produced was great, I thought it needed a different element. It was then that I ventured into the realm of motionography. Since then, I have been creating designs with movement, whether through video or animation.

I strive to someday create a piece of visual movement that is of importance to all human nature and has the ability to affect the entire world. Because I have always been a visual learner, and so I choose to be a visual creator.

I love gear and have a passion for making videos. This passion started early and I still can’t believe this is what I do for a living. I started my professional career less then a week after graduating college and I continue to learn with every project.

I enjoy using the newest technologies and equipment to help tell a client’s story. Working with the 522 team makes it easy to get up in the morning and sometimes I forget I am at work. I believe coffee makes me a better editor.
