Videos for non-profit organizations

The Northern Virginia area is home for thousands of non-profit organizations and many are headquartered in the area. Being located in the center of Old Town Alexandria, puts our video production company in front of many non-profit organizations. As a result, we have had a great opportunity to work with organizations that are focused on a core mission and are often striving to improve society on some level.
One of the most important aspects of a non-profit organization is the message...or, in our eyes "the story". The sponsorships, donations, public support and volunteers all stem from a common goal or message. This is the lifeblood of the non-profit organization.
So, how can a non-profit entity communicate a message to a desired audience? Well, brochures, websites, pamphlets and conferences/trade-shows are certainly a possibility. However, 522 Productions, LLC has worked with several groups to deliver a message through video. Video is unique because the footage and content can be repurposed in several ways. Many of our non-profit clients come to us with a specific purpose in mind - such as creating a DVD. However, we often take a step back and ask our clients about their organization, their message and other details. Once we have had this discussion, we can usually produce a video that can be repurposed in several ways...and this increases the value of the overall investment (very important to a non-profit organization!).
What does "repurpose" really mean? Yes, we know this is a somewhat ambiguous word. In this case, repurpose essentially means that we can develop a video that can be used in several ways. With one project, we can create several "versions" of a video. For example, one of our recent projects included the following deliverables:
1) DVD - used for mailing information to prospective sponsors
2) Flash web video - included on the organization's website for visitors to view
3) E-mail - included a link to the on-line video after sending an e-mail blast to current members
So, we encourage you to think the core message behind your organization and the possibilities for communicating that message by leveraging video.
